RSS

RSS is completely new to me, and I enjoyed this part of the course but it has taken me far too much time because I tend to get sidetracked. There's no way I can spend all this time on a regular basis, so I have unsubscribed to about half of my original list. The Powerhouse Museum is a good choice because it's interesting but not too time-consuming. My other choices were mainly sites relating to books, sport, health and cats - far too many and way too much information for me, but I can see the potential for use in the library.

Exploring Flickr

This is a picture of Machu Pichu, a lost Inca city in Peru.

My son is thinking of travelling here in the near future.

Catching Up

So here I am, finally learning the art of blogging.

This is something that is totally new to me and I'm interested to find out more about this phenomenon. I'd like to know why it is that many people, particularly young ones, get addicted to blogging.

I have looked at some of the other examples of library blogs and wondered why they used the blog medium instead of just putting this information on their website. After discussing it with my son, who is an avid blogger, I understand that it is to try to engage with other people through social networking as well as to stimulate collaboration.

I like the idea that anyone can be a publisher in this new day and age.
